When attempting to clean a living finish, you must do so delicately. You want to be sure to clean the plate without scratching the surface of the item or removing the aged effect on the kick plate.

It would be best if you routinely wiped the kickplate down with a soft cloth and warm soapy water. It is essential to avoid using an abrasive sponge, as this may result in scratching the kick plate and damaging the surface. Be sure to dry the kick plate after cleaning to avoid water spots emerging. Some experts even suggest using "distilled" water in this mix, rather than tap water. Living finish kick plates often feature a beeswax coating to protect the face. After cleaning, you can reapply Beeswax to keep the finish in its pristine state.
