How to speed up the aging process?

If you have purchased a brass or copper item, and you want to make it looked aged and antique yourself, you can do this with a specialist aging or antiquing fluid. There is, however, a way to do this efficiently with products you may already have at home. First, we recommend brushing some nail polish remover or paint stripper on the face to remove any lacquer that may be on there. After this step, clean the kick plate with some warm soapy water and dry with a clean towel. Then, mix a solution with vinegar and saltwater and brush on the plate. Wrap the item in cling film to seal in the fumes from the solution. You can keep checking on the item and remove the cling film once it reaches the desired effect. Once removed, you can wipe over the piece with a brush. One final clean with warm soapy water, and dry with a clean towel, and you're all finished.
